The Langtang valley, Helambu and Gosainkund are the three adjacent areas covered by the Langtang region. You can choose to either visit each area separately or combine the three to make it a longer trek. Individually, each area takes around a week to cover but you can also visit all three places in a package tour of twelve to sixteen days. The Langtang trek will take a little more than a week. This is the most sought after treks as it provides you with magnificent mountain views. There are two alternative routes to the Langtang valley. You can either go to Bharku from Dhunche or trek up the Langtang valley from Syabru Besi. Whichever route you decide to choose, you have to first take a bus to Dhunche from Kathmandu. The following three day trail from Syabru is through forests and along river upstream to Changtang and finally to Langtang. You can spend the fifth day climbing the Kyanjin Gompa. You can visit a monastery there or tour the local cheese factory. There are also other options like a hike up to the Langshisa Kharka or the Yala Peak. For the return journey you can simply follow the trail back to Syabru Besi and then finally return to Kathmandu. Please note that for a longer trek you can also take an alternate route from Kyanjin Gompa to Helambu via Gosainkund. |
